Our Elders

Tom Doty - Pastor & Elder

Tom received his college education at Pittsburg State University with emphasis in secondary education.  The army took priority after college and teaching was put on hold.  After his time in the Army, Tom embarked on what has turned out to be nearly 50 years career in the trucking and transportation industry.  Tom and His wife Karen are owners of a small trucking company based in Johnson (Fayetteville) AR. Tom and Karen have been heavily involved in churches in KS, MO, TX, and AR as lay people, often serving in leadership positions; before being part of a small band of people who formed Freedom Fellowship in 2004.

Tom and Karen have 3 grown children,10 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren.

At the inception of Freedom, the hope was to be a body of believers that was active in church life and advancing the gospel; not a body that assumed paid leadership should do the work.   Freedom has been, and is blessed with, an extremely active volunteer body, which includes rotating pulpit teachers.  Tom presently serves as a pulpit teacher, elder, and small group leader. Tom says, "As we thought about the foundation of Freedom Fellowship, we studied scripture in 2004, we examined the early church that is described in Acts and what a church plant might look like that had no over-arching denomination; rather a community church.   The Prophet Isaiah in chapter 6 was asked by the Lord, “who shall I send, who will go for us”?  I believe Freedom’s mantra of “Love God, Love Others, and Serve Both” describes our answer to Isaiah’s question, 'send me'".

Personally Tom is thankful for the early Christian education that he received as the direction of his mother and supportive church family.  Tom’s father passed away at age 37 and his mother reared the 3 children (ages 7,12, and 14) on her own; while instilling Christian values, the importance of honesty and a good work ethic.  Karen and I hope we can leave such a legacy to our family and church family.   He is very, very thankful that God brought him a help-mate Karen; who has been faithfully at his side through thick-and-thin.

Eric Middleton - Pastor & Elder

Elder/Ordained Minister

Eric has been married to Susan Moran since February 4, 1977 and together they have four children and nine grandchildren. Eric received his Bachelor’s of Science in Education from the University of Louisiana - Monroe in 1982. Eric has been a teacher and coach for the past 39 years. He retired from the state of Louisiana after 28 years and ha been at Springdale High School as a coach and teacher for the past ten years. Susan works for Springdale Public Schools in the district office.

Eric and Susan have been a part of the Freedom Fellowship family for over eight years. Eric has served as an elder for the past four years and has been part of the preaching team for the past seven. Susan is a part of the worship team and is involved in teaching.

Eric and Susan moved to northwest Arkansas ten years ago and spent the first 18 months of residency looking for a church home. Once they walked through the front doors of Freedom Fellowship, they knew their search was over. The warmth and love of the people was overwhelming. Freedom Fellowship was the family atmosphere and truth-seeking church that they were looking for.

Prior to moving to Springdale, Susan was involved in ministries such as teaching bible classes, singing with the worship team and leading small groups. Eric served as an elder at Whites Ferry Road Church in West Monroe, Louisiana teaching bible classes and occasionally preaching. Eric and Susan come from strong Christian family backgrounds. Both of their fathers served as elders in their respective churches for many years.

Some of Eric’s favorite passages of scriptures are: Romans 1:17, Romans 10:10, John 15:1-4, and 2 Corinthians 12:9. Eric’s statement of faith: we believe the Bible to be the inspired, infallible and authoritative Word of God. We believe there is one God, externally existent in three Persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin both, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His atoning death through His shed blood. We believe in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father and in His personal return to power and glory. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, whose indwelling gives Christians the courage, strength and power to live a godly life. We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.  We believe all matters of faith and conduct are in Holy Scripture, which is our inspired, infallible and inerrant guide (2 Timothy 3:16-17).

Dennis was born and raised in southeast Iowa, where he married Peggy in 1974. They moved to Springdale in 1983, with their daughters, Amanda and Cara, when he accepted a management position with Jones Truck Lines. He feels led to serve, as the book of James tells us in chapter 2 verse 26, "Faith is dead without good works ". His strengths lie in Evangelism and shepherding. His favorite scripture is the 23rd Psalm, which reassures us that God is always with us, regardless of what life may throw at us.
Dennis and Peggy enjoy spending time with their Grandkids, Taylor, 17 of Fayetteville, and Ella 14, and Eli 11 of Fair Oaks Ranch, Tx. The Bubniaks also like to hike, garden and attend the Razorback games.
After visiting several churches, they found Freedom Fellowship to be the perfect church, with lots of Bible-based studies and worship opportunities. The church has a warm and welcoming congregation who really care about one another.
